Moral Dilemmas

What would you do if you were a photo journalist in a war zone and somebody near you was injured? Would you stop taking pictures and help this person, at the risk of your own life, or would you keep taking pictures that could make a difference in the conflict?
Discuss this and other moral dilemmas in this very interesting video

After choosing and watching one of the short videos, use the following questions to have a conversation with the members of your group:

-Why did you choose this video?

-What did you think about the video after watching it?

-What would you do in this situation?

-How do you think the story ended? Would you have done the same?
-Have you ever found yourself in a moral dilemma? Explain it to the other members of the group. What did you do? What would they have done?

British and American English

So much in common, but yet so many differences!

Thanks to our ever increasing consumption of movies and series in original version, and our use of internet to read pages in English from all over the globe, most English learners have now a miscellaneous vocabulary and pronunciation which can no longer be defined as British, American or any other variety. Which English are we speaking?

Although it is not essential to keep a "pure" pronunciation, it is important to know which way we pronounce words. And it is yet more important to keep a coherent spelling,  especially if we are about to start university.

Watch this video about British and American pronunciation:

And this other video about British and American spelling. It is a little monotonous, but worth watching until the end:

Body Decorations Around the World

Apart from using different clothes, how can people change the appearance of their bodies? Are there many different ways of doing it around the world? Which is your favourite way? Which one would you use to change your appearance? Would you ever try to change your body permanently?

In groups of two/three students, choose one way of changing your appearance and explain it to the rest of the class. Write a text (10/15 lines maximum) and post it in your portfolio.

Volunteers will then present it to the rest of the class. For the presentation, you don't need to use a power point, you only need one or two pictures to show to the class and five/ six sentences to explain it to your classmates. Write these sentences in a piece of paper but try to learn them by heart before telling them to the rest of the students. Speak as clearly as possible!

You can first watch this video to get some ideas:
